A fun Maternity Shoot

Ok, so it's been a while since I last posted, and for that I apologize. I also have a bit of a backlog to get through, but I suppose that is always going to happen when you wait... and wait... and wait.
Anyway, to the task at hand. On the day of our shoot, everything looked beautiful. The skies were clear, the weather was warm, and it looked like we were in for a perfect maternity shoot at sunset. Really, I should have learned by now to never be that naive. As we approached the coast we found that the clouds were rolling in along with the wind, so the whimsical sundress was a tad on the cool side when we got there.
However, we decided to tough it out, and were richly rewarded by some dramatic skies, which you will see in one or two of the shots. The rest, well, they really like clear skies, so I was very thankful that Lightroom could come to the rescue and really bring out the blues in the sky.

As always, you can find more of the pictures on the website:

A wonderful day with a wonderful couple

Today was spent with Meghan and Bobby, a wonderful couple, recently engaged, who took us out to a beautiful location in Ramona, CA. Things got a little bit crazy, but it wasn't anything that we couldn't handle as a team. We were only able to get a few pictures of their beautiful daughter, but that will soon be rectified when we go out for the second part of our shoot at a golf course.

2:00am and still not sleeping

So it's 2:00 am the day before the shoot and my brain just won't shut down. Are the batteries charged? Check. Cameras working? As much as they ever are. But still my brain won't shut down. The long and the short of it is this: I am just going to have to go to bed and hope for the best, because otherwise I'll be far to groggy to do anything but drool on my equipment. I'll be back later with info on the shoot, and hopefully the beginning of some great pics to share with you as well.

Chase chases your wallet

Please forgive me this rant, but I must...

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, EVER, EVER TRUST CHASE WITH YOUR MONEY!!!

Three times in the last 6 months they have seriously messed up, with this latest being the absolute worst... costing me and my son our health insurance. Please, pass this on to anyone you care about to make sure they don't make the same mistake of trusting this bank as we did.

The wonderful world of our olfactory senses

So I was driving home this evening from a focus group, and I realized something; odors can be sneaky. Right now you are probably thinking that it's time to find something else to read, but hear me out: on the way up the 5 I had this beautiful scentsation assault my senses - cucumber manure. But this wasn't your usual, run-of-the-mill smelling everything at the same time. Noooo, it started out with a delightfully-fresh scent of cucumber, drifting on the evening breeze. This, of course, encouraged me to breathe in deeply, at which point the heavy aroma of the fresh manure assaulted my senses and made my nostrils attempt to implode. In short, smells are getting sneaky, and it's time to fight back. How we can achieve that I do not know, but I know that we will, some day.
Oh, and I happened to meet someone who works for the new children's museum down in San Diego, and we are looking at collaborating on a possible project for the future.

There's a first time for everything

So, here I am, wondering what on earth to say next. Hmmmmm... oh wait, I know!

Hi!

That seems like a pretty good starting point, don't you think? It's a solid, short, sweet and to-the-point type of greeting, with plenty of spunk added by the all important "!". Without it, the greeting would feel bland, non-committal, blah. With it however, and you are treated to a veritable feast of energy and vibrancy. So I shall say it again, Hi! Hello! Welcome to my brand-new, never-before-seen blog, where all shall be made clear, or at least not quite as muddy.

So, with this being a photography blog and all, I should probably at least begin to mention something photo-related, right? Wrong! I should definitely mention something photography-related. Did that do it for you?
No?
Drat. Ok, how about this... coming up in May is a wedding that I'm really looking forward to - it's going to have a live band, it's going to have bagpipes, and it's all going to start on the beach and end at a resort. What more could a photographer ask for? Maybe some engagement shots that could potentially be happening in wine country?
Yes, life is good, and I'm looking forward to many, many more happy posts to come.
